Ever since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Wuhan, China, the virus has spread throughout the globe infecting more than 100 million people. China’s initial response included heavy use of technology, specially AI. As the virus spread, many governments adopted new technology to manage and fight coronavirus. Billions of dollars have been poured into research and many startups are now working with medical specialists, academics and governments.

Technology vs COVID-19

Technology has enabled us to facilitate a fast and effective to the ongoing pandemic. Many modern countries around the world, like South Korea, have integrated technology in their response strategies. Digital technologies were used in surveillance, testing, contact tracing, and quarantine. This helped to 'flatten the curve', which in turn saved many lives.

This pandemic has given a significant boost to technology and innovation. AI has played a major role and allowed experts to predict the spread of the virus. There has also been an influx of new solutions based on drones, tele-health, robotics etc. The technology helping fight the virus is here to stay and will significantly improve our response to the next big outbreak.
